Package types are set up in Turbine to allow warehouse production to map packaging to order sizes to ensure the package weight and dimensions are calculated accurately for shipment label purchase. The package type interface can be found under Super Admin > Shipping > Package Types:
Once on the Package Type page, you will find a list of all current package types broken down by location and account, a search filter bar, and a button to add additional Package Types:
To Add a new Package Type click the button Add New Package Type and you will be presented with a form to create the package type:
A description of each field is included below:
Location – The warehouse location that can use this package type.
Account (optional) - If set, the account is the only account that can use this package type. Useful if a customer has custom packaging material.
Name – A descriptive name of the package type.
Description – Additional descriptor for the package type.
Length – The length in inches of the package.
Width – The width in inches of the package.
Height – The height in inches of the package.
Weight – The weight of the packaging material.
Min Capacity – The minimum number of shirts that should be in an order to use this packaging.
Max Capacity – The maximum number of shirts that should be in an order to use this packaging.
Note: Fleece garments are calculated as a multiple of shirts to ensure fleece fits in packaging. The multiple can be controlled by the interface: Admin > Locations > Admin Preference under Fleece Garment Weight. By default, the value is set to 4 – 1 fleece garment counts as 4 non-fleece shirts.
